The Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, along with the Office for Cooperation Development (ODCO), are proud to announce the success of the 5th edition of the National Prize “Lalla Al Moutaâouina”. This national prize aims to reward the most innovative initiatives for the development of female cooperative projects, within the framework of the Moroccan government’s continued commitment to the economic empowerment of women.

Under the theme “Female Cooperatives: A Fertile Ground to Strengthen Entrepreneurial Spirit among Women”, this edition has garnered considerable interest, with the participation of 329 female cooperatives. Among them, 29 cooperatives stood out for their innovative projects and were selected by a panel of experts during the award ceremony held on Wednesday, April 24th in Rabat.

For the year 2024, the “Lalla Al Moutaâouina” prize offers financial support of 50,000 dhs to these winning cooperatives, thanks to a solid partnership between the Ministry, ODCO, as well as institutional and private partners.

This 5th edition has benefited from crucial support from the regions of Fès-Meknes, Guelmim-Oued-Noun, Oriental, and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, as well as partners such as the OCP Foundation, the Embassy of Qatar, Dar Al Moukawil, CIH Bank, Bank of Africa, Crédit Agricole, Cosumar, Copag, Jaida, Attawfiq Micro-finance Foundation, Tanger Med, and Amane Foundation.

Embedded within the objective of the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy to enhance the economic inclusion of women and their contribution to the national economy, the Lalla Al Moutaâouina prize has already provided financial support to 99 female cooperatives since its launch in 2020. On a larger scale, the program aspires to increase the number of female cooperatives in Morocco by raising awareness among more women about the benefits of integrating and establishing cooperatives, thereby contributing to creating an ecosystem conducive to women’s empowerment and promoting gender equality.
